Wednesday Derby parties lift income for charities

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — On Derby week we get a celebration started on Wednesday.

“I am super excited,” pronounced Sadiqa Reynolds, Urban League president.

But in Kentuckiana, we celebration for a purpose. Three opposite parties are lifting income for 3 opposite charities.

First stop, a initial ever Urban League Derby Gala.

“I’m unapproachable of a community. I consider this is a many different eventuality in a city,” Reynolds said.

Much to their surprise, tickets for a eventuality sole out roughly immediately and they even had to supplement tables to accommodate some-more people, a sum of 620 people.

“I’m amazed. I’m so thankful. I’m so grateful to Louisville,” Reynolds said.

But a fun didn’t stop there. Jocktails, a derby week staple, gathers a best jockeys in a universe and puts them to work lifting income for other jockeys who have been harmed or paralyzed.
